CC3DP is proud to announce one of our participating teams had an opportunity to visit Shapeways. Thanks to Lauren for making this happen. It was really a great experience for all of us to see how Shapeways works. This particular team really loved the inside tour because they were one of the teams to use Shapeways to fabricate their object for the Creative Challenge in 3D printing. "The process is very detailed," said Md Peters, a CC3DP manager. "I can't believe what the factory looks like myself. Gone are the rows of people. instead are these million dollar pieces of equipment standing alone on the floor. Of course people are still a part of the factory but they are not making the items. Instead, they are digging the items out, deciding the most efficient way to send the items to the printers, and involved in packing and sending the items after they are fabricated. I was very happy to negotiate this visit to shapeways for one of the participating teams. I also think it was enjoyable for Shapeways to see some of the kids whose lives they impact on a daily basis.
